Solvent Safe Tips
Q. How does a Solvent
Safe filter differ from a regular filter?
A. Pipetting volatile chemicals via air displacement
can easily generate aerosols that carry solvent molecules
into the pipettor shaft and damage sensitive components, such
as seals, over time. Regular non-sealing filters are made
of polyethylene which will not react with solvent molecules,
leaving them free to travel beyond the filter. Solvent Safe
filters contain carbon which traps the molecules of many classes
of chemical solvents, acids and bases and prevents their passage
into the pipettor altogether, saving you the time and money
associated with costly repairs.
